BA (Hons) in Interior Architecture and Design add-on (Online)
This add-on L8 Honours degree is offered online both full time (one year) or part time (two years). Students focus on a major design thesis project of their choice that showcases their design skills. In supporting modules, students consolidate their professional knowledge, explore their interests and refine their graduate portfolio in preparation for practice.
It can be studied full time (one year) or part time (two years). All students participate in live design discussions with peers and lecturers, using our cutting- edge streamed, interactive room and enjoying the support of small study groups.
In Design Project VII & VIII, a year-long design thesis project of the students’ choice forms half of the overall programme. Here, the student consolidates their design, communication and technical skills in one major design project.
In Research for Design and the Arts I & II students explore a personal design interest in depth and are introduced design research. Students engage with an issue or charity of their choice in Community Engagement; Special Project. Finally, Professional Studies for Interior Architects and Reflective Portfolio prepare the student for practice. Applicants must have obtained a merit 2 level 7 degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline (e.g. Interior Design or Interior Architecture). Alternatively, equivalency in prior learning and experience must be demonstrated through a criteria-matched digital portfolio of work and/or interview with portfolio. Graduates are qualified to work as Interior Architects or Interior Designers, employed within Interior Architectural practices, Interior Design firms and Architectural practices. Graduates can also find employment in the areas of Furniture Design, Lighting Design, Kitchen Design and Exhibition Design. Graduates’ graphic skills can lead to employment in 3D visualization.
