Jointly hosted by the Centre for Environmental Research Innovation and Sustainability (CERIS) Research Centre at the Institute of Technology Sligo, Ireland and Mid Sweden University, Sundsvall, Sweden.

EwS 2018 is the first in a series of international interdisciplinary conferences that will focus on the challenges facing all aspects of education, teaching for a sustainable future.

The event will address not only the challenges but also the opportunities for educators as we will have to weave the golden thread of sustainability into all aspects of the teaching curriculum.

EwS 2018 conference draws together national and international educators and researchers­­ in focused paper sessions with thought provoking keynote speakers and sessions on  Sustainability as a Pedagogical Tool , Sustainability in Higher Education and Outreach.

As an attendee at EwS 2018, you have the opportunity to attend one of the three training workshops. EwS 2018 will provides the following workshops;

  • Workshop 1 – Life Cycle Analysis – Training on LCA for sustainable development
  • Workshop 2 – Corporate Social Responsibility and Design
  • Workshop 3 – How Unsustainable are the Sustainable Development Goals?

On the first evening of EwS we will have a Public Event on Fake News and Impacts. This will be a lively Panel Session followed by Questions from the Floor! There will be five expert panel members who will each engage the audience with a five minute presentation before opening questions to the floor. Panel members include Ella McSweeney (Food and Farming Journalist), Alison Greig (Director of Education for Sustainability, Anglia Ruskin University), Michael Ewing (Coordinator of Irish Environmental Network), Oonagh Monaghan (Food Consultant and Author),  Ciaran Byrne (CEO Inland Fisheries Ireland). The evening will be chaired by Dr. Richard Thorn, Emeritus President of IT Sligo.
